This set of two fabric coasters features a traditional Japanese pattern called TONBO AIZOME, which is one of auspicious patterns. TONBO means dragonfly and AIZOME means indigo dyeing in Japanese. It is said that the pattern was highly acclaimed throughout Japan in the late Edo era (1603 - 1868) because of its charming atmosphere and auspicious qualities.
