Handcrafted Teacup: 250ml (8.80fl oz), diameter: 2.76inches (7.0cm) height: 3.94inches (10.0cm)
Sophisticated Kyo-Yaki (Kyoto Style)
Made by Yohtaroh Takemura at Dainichi Kiln

These Yunomi have the unique avant-garde aura of the young artisan together with traditions succeeded from Dainichi Kiln.

HAIYU means ash glaze in Japanese. This HAIYU ash glaze produces elegant pale green and light blue colors as shown in the pictures. These beautiful colors are created by reduction firing of iron constituents in the glaze. This beautiful color is one of the typical glazes in this Dainichi Kiln.

SOGI means scraping away in Japanese. As its name suggests, this teacup is boldly scraped, and the pale green and light blue color glaze coats the exterior of the teacup. It seems that this teacup is simple at a glance, but it takes much time and effort to create. The teacup is elaborately scraped away, and the scraped lines create varying shades of glazing colors. The contrast between pale green and blue color is very graceful.

Though the artisan, Yohtaroh Takemura just started to work under his father in 2010, he has already won several awards. So, this Yunomi is not only well-designed but also vigorous. It is the work of an emerging young talent, full of potential. To consider the value of this work, the price is quite reasonable. We expect that this young artisan will have great success in the future, and the value of his early work will increase further.
