The name of MONAKA originates from the Japanese traditional poem which was written about 1200 years ago, describing the "bright full moon reflecting on the surface of the water." After 1000 years, one confectioner created this classic sweet associated with this poem, and since that time, MONAKA has been a well-loved treat not only in Japan but outside Japan for more than 300 years.
