Our KUSA MOCHI is a traditional confection made of MOCHI rice cake kneaded with YOMOGI artemisia and AN red bean jam. It has been popular among many people in Japan for a long time. It is not too sweet but slightly sweet. YOMOGI artemisia brings a unique gentle flavor. And the subtle sweetness of AN bean jam pairs wonderfully with the MOCHI rice cake. YOMOGI, also known as artemisia, is a perennial plant found in a wide range of habitats. It has been historically quite useful both as a medical herb and an edible herb in Japan. The gentle brisk and bitter flavor has been loved among people in Japan for generations.

This confection is known as DAIFUKU in Japan. DAIFUKU has a long history and it is said that the origin dates back to the Edo Period (around 18th century). It is thought that DAIFUKU was one of the most precious confections since sugar was a luxury at that time. DAIFUKU also means “great luck” in Japanese. Therefore, this is a very auspicious sweet and is often given as a gift for ceremonial occasions.
