Lefty Kyusu (handcrafted: 360ml)

Handcrafted Kyusu
Dimension: 360ml (12.67fl oz)
Traditional Tokoname Yaki

Kyusu having a side handle was developed in Japan and has been used and made only in Japan. Once you try the design, you immediately learn that Kyusu having a side handle is amazingly more convenient than any other teapots having back handle or upper handle. It is much more ergonomic and does not cause stress to the wrist or arm, and is also easier to control while pouring so you can pour the perfect amount of tea without spilling.

Most Kyusu are convenient for the right-handed user, however, it is awkward to use for someone who is left-handed. There are very few people who are left-handed in Japan because in most cases, children who are left-handed are trained to use their right hands, following Japanese tradition. Therefore Kyusu have historically been designed only for those who are right-handed.

We have been contacted many times with requests for a Left-handed or Lefty Kyusu. We feel this is an excellent idea, and so have collaborated with a kiln and specially arranged for this Left-handed Kyusu. This item is the most popular size, 360ml (12.67fl oz), perfect for 1 - 3 people. This Kyusu is a very classic and simple style. The surface is decorated by woodturning and a paddle, which is one of the unique features of Tokoname-Yaki Kyusu.

It has a fine mesh filter at the base of the spout of the Kyusu, so even tiny tea leaves (ex: Fukamushi Sencha) will not come out from the Kyusu. If the mesh filter is too fine, the aroma and taste can't be extracted enough and the filter can easily become blocked. Our Kyusu mesh filter is the perfect size for all kinds of tea leaves.

If you are left-handed and have been looking for an easy-to-use tea pot with atmosphere, would you try once?

Directions

- It is best to wash this item using only tepid water or mild chlorine-free dish washing detergent.
- If necessary, you may occasionally use a chlorine detergent. In that case, after using the chlorine detergent, we recommend you boil this item in water to remove the chlorine smell.
- When turning the Kyusu to pour tea, you must hold the lid in place with your finger, otherwise the lid could fall off the pot and possibly get damaged. This is the usual way to pour tea with a Kyusu.
- A clear plastic guard is placed over the tip of the Kyusu spout to protect the spout from breakage during transport. Before use, please remove the plastic guard.
