Review	When I saw these yunomi by Mr. Eizan Okuda I knew I would not be disappointed. I’m a fan of Mr. Okuda’s work so I knew these yunomi would be EXQUISITE! They may not look like much in the pictures but there is a lot of work, skill, and detailing behind each yunomi. I purchased the pair. At first glance the brown dripped glaze reminded me of dark chocolate sauce (YUM!). You can use your imagination and they can be other things as well (such as a wooded forest in the winter, brown abstract vertical lines, etc). Although the official description of the inside color is ‘white’, my interpretation is that the color of the interior of the yunomi is a very, very light mocha/creamy white (so we’re talking about shades of brown overall). The outside has carvings, called ROKUROME that run horizontally (hard to see the detail but I’ve included a close up in my pictures). This ROKUROME is very Wabi-Sabi and of all different shapes. When the glaze drips down it fills in the gaps created by the ROKUROME and makes different colors and even more shapes. The base is wide and the whole bottom looks like it has been stained with the glaze (it reminds me of stained wood). Depending on your cup it may be a lighter or darker looking ‘stain’. It was easier for me to notice because I purchased the set so I got one that was a little lighter and one that was darker. One cup was also slightly smaller than the other (which I love!!). I can’t rave enough about these yunomi. I immediately made my Gyokuro Konacha Super Premium and drank from it one of these yunomi and it was delicious!! The rim has been thinned and flared out so even though these are pretty thick and solid, it’s very comfortable to hold and contributes to a very enjoyable green tea (or any drink) experience. I can’t rave enough about these yunomi. They are absolutely stunning (and they even match my granite countertop which I didn’t know until I put it there to take the picture)!! If you’re on the fence with this one…go for it! You won’t be disappointed!
