Mr. Tohan Dobuchi was born in 1980 and is the fourth Tohan. The first Tohan Dobuchi opened Tohan Kiln in 1922. The current Tohan Dobuchi succeeded the fourth in 2011. Tohan Kiln's unique works, sustained by high level pottery and drawing techniques and various original elegant color glazes in over three hundred colors, are highly appreciated and viewed with awe.

KOHCHI is one of the glazing names frequently used in Kyo Yaki pottery. The glossy and vivid glaze is coated outside the teacup, and the flowers and plants painted in blue color inside the teacup are well contrasted. These Yunomi teacups are vertically scraped and a line of brown color glaze is horizontally painted around the rim.

SAKURA means cherry blossom in Japanese, and its flowers are elegantly painted inside the teacup in blue glaze. SAKURA cherry blossoms are not only a well-loved symbol of spring but are also the national flower of Japan. SAKURA are elegantly painted, and the brush strokes remind us of the tenderness of the cherry blossom petals. Emerald green color glaze is coated on the SAKURA teacup. Green KOHCHI color evokes the image of fresh green leaves in early summer.

The contrast between the strong and light color is very graceful. The very smooth and glossy surface of the KOHCHI technique also adds an indescribable noble and graceful atmosphere. The vivid color of each teacup creates a fresh and cool atmosphere in early summer.
These teacups are elaborately scraped away, and the scraped lines create varying shades of glazing colors. The contrast between strong and light color is very graceful. Each design inside the teacup is painted in one color, which is called zaffer glaze. Only blue color is used, but Tohan Dobuchi gracefully decorates them by use of gradation of blue color.
KANNYU, a type of glaze and technique which gives the appearance of a cracked surface, finely appears on the whole surface of the KOHCHI glaze. KANNYU cracking adds the beauty to teacups, as if they wear an emerald gem.

Refined and elaborate techniques create this simple yet graceful teacup. Glossy KOHCHI glaze color also adds the fresh feeling of the season in early summer. We are certain that each Yunomi teacup will enhance the taste of fresh green tea.

Mr. Tohan Dobuchi was born in 1980 and is the fourth Tohan. The first Tohan Dobuchi opened Tohan Kiln at 1922. Now's Tohan Dobuchi succeeded the fourth at 2011.
The third Tohan’s art was full of creative energy, as he was naturally inquisitive and enjoys exploring new techniques and designs every day. - It is best to wash this item using only tepid water or mild chlorine-free dish washing detergent.
- If necessary, you may occasionally use a chlorine detergent.
- Do not sterilize by boiling, or in a dish washing machine.
