Mr. Tohan Dobuchi was born in 1980 and is the fourth Tohan. The first Tohan Dobuchi opened Tohan Kiln in 1922. The current Tohan Dobuchi succeeded the fourth in 2011. Tohan Kiln’s unique works, sustained by high level pottery and drawing techniques and various original elegant color glazes in more than 300 colors, are highly appreciated and viewed with awe.

HANA TSUDOI means flower gathering in Japanese. There are twelve teacups in this series, and different flowers from season to season are decorated on each cup. HANA TSUDOI teacup is one of the most popular in the advanced line at Tohan Kiln.

(AYAME)
AYAME means iris in Japanese, a well-loved flower of late spring to early summer in Japan. It has been said, since ancient times, that the iris fends off evil because of its strong fragrance.

The use of golden color also contributes to the elegance of the AYAME iris flower. The detailed rendering makes this cup more brilliant.

The outside of this Yunomi is glazed reddish brown and the inside is coated with white glaze. Its color contrast is exquisite and the green tea color shines against the white interior glaze.

One of the focal points of this Yunomi is its unique shape. The middle of the side is slightly indented and the top side is a little flared. The curve from the rim to the base is not only beautiful, but also lovely to hold in your hand.

(KIKYOH)
KIKYOH means bellflower, which has unique star-shaped petals, and blooms from summer to early autumn. KIKYOH bellflower is gracefully blooming on this Yunomi teacup, carefully painted in purple and white glaze.

Purple and white color of KIKYOH bellflower is beautifully reflected on the pink glaze color teacup elegantly and calmly. Bellflower colored in white is elegantly painted in a range of tones of a single color. Bellflower colored in purple elegantly blooms in the center of the Yunomi, and the strong purple color is decorated in parts other than stamens to express the delicate color of the flower. Not only the reflection on the pink glaze but also the contrast between purple and white bellflowers also captures the impressive beauty of this KIKYOH flower.

The inside of this Yunomi is glazed white and finished with brush lines, which create a fine atmosphere. One can see the natural color of the clay at the rim and base, which modestly accents the beautiful white glaze.

One of the focal points of this Yunomi is its unique shape. The top of the side is slightly indented and the bottom is rounded. The curve from the rim to the base is not only beautiful, but also lovely to hold in your hand.
