Polvorones are cookies that originated in Spain. They are called Snowball cookies in English and Boule de Neige in French. As the name suggests, it has a gentle texture that melts in the mouth like snow. It is enjoyed as a traditional snack at Christmas and festive times in Spain and around the world.
Our Polvorones are a Western confection made with Japanese ingredients. There are two flavors: WASANBON and Matcha. WASANBON has been commonly used in fancy Japanese confections for centuries because of its gentle and elegant sweetness.
Eastern flavors of WASANBON and Matcha meet Western Polvorones in this subtly sweet cookie, which pairs perfectly with Japanese green tea. Why don’t you try this unique confection with a cup of Japanese green tea?
WASANBON:
WASANBON is made in Kagawa and Tokushima prefectures in southwest Japan. The sugar is made from thin sugarcane plants called Taketo, grown especially in these areas and made locally using traditional methods. WASANBON is known for its high-toned sweetness.
Matcha:
Plenty Matcha is used for these Polvorones in order to bring out the graceful mellow taste and noble aroma. Our confectioner doesn’t use artificial flavoring chemicals at all, though many manufacturers use low quality Matcha and artificial flavorings.
