Teacup: pair: 200ml (6.76fl oz) each, diameter: 3.54inches (9cm), height: 2.76inches (7cm)
NANAME means diagonal, and BORI means engraving in Japanese. As the name suggests, the outside of a simple white porcelain cup is carved diagonally, creating a simple yet sophisticated atmosphere.
NANAMEBORI Yunomi is not only sophisticated and modern but also ideal for serving tea. The outside has a very beautiful, delicate pattern carved by skilled craftsmen. These diagonally carved lines make the teacup surprisingly lightweight, even though it seems heavy at first glance.
The carved areas are so thin that light can be seen through them when held up to the sun. Carving porcelain can only be done by hand, and requires great skill.
The slight inward curve of the rim helps one to taste Japanese tea flavorfully. It is one of the unique traditional design techniques of Japanese tea ware. The round shape brings a calm atmosphere. And the white porcelain helps you appreciate the subtle color of the tea.
We are sure that you will enjoy the simple and sophisticated design of this Yunomi.
