This is a unique Yunomi. The combination of a traditional technique, such as KAIRAGI, with a novel design, creates the superb and sophisticated feel of this Yunomi. The contrast of black texture with white glaze emphasizes its modern style. The techniques create a modern WABI SABI atmosphere, and makes viewers feel the artisan's skill, consideration, and passion.

KAIRAGI is the name of the glaze. KAIRAGI ware is one of the most prized among all tea ware and has been loved by tea masters for generations. Its characteristic wrinkles and cracks appear during firing.

This Yunomi is coated with white color glaze to highlight its distinctive surface. The contrast between its pitch-black texture and solid white glaze creates a modern and sophisticated impression. It is like a rocky mountain lightly powdered with snow. Each item is truly unique with different expressions brought out during firing.

At first glance, viewers may find the form quite audacious. The sides are boldly scraped away, which is called MENTORI, describing the surfaces created by carving away the clay. On the other hand, the bottom of the Yunomi is carefully and elaborately scraped away. The appearance is not round like a standard Yunomi but a little angular in shape. It emphasizes the modern and novel atmosphere. The marriage of the traditional KAIRAGI technique and modern design evokes the superb and sophisticated aura of this Yunomi.
