This small Yunomi teacup is a modern expression of an ancient Japanese design technique. The traditional design and the artisan's expertise are harmonized on the surface of the teacup to bring out the best.

IRODORI means color combination, and MISHIMA means the stamp of a flower pattern. MISHIMA flower stamps are decorated in a consecutive manner. The patterns are delicately stamped by hand, before the clay is dried, using a stamp stick, which is carved with flowers. Besides the MISHIMA flower stamps, lines are carved vertically and horizontally, and the center of MISHIMA is colored red, blue, and yellow, accenting the simplicity of the design.

KOBIKI, which is the glaze made from white clay, is coated on this Yunomi. The same white color of the KOBIKI glaze and flower patterns are well reflected on the black base earthenware. After all surfaces have been painted, it is wiped off so that the underlying black color can be seen in places. This may sound simple, but the white color is left on the MISHIMA flower stamps, which requires a high level of skill on the part of the craftsman.

Linear marks made by brush are implemented on the inside of the Yunomi. This traditional technique is called HAKEME. It modestly accents this beautiful and sophisticated Yunomi.
