Handcrafted Teacup: 200ml (6.76oz) , diameter: 3.15inches (8cm) height: 3.54inches (9cm)
Traditional Kyo-Yaki (Kyoto Style)
Made by Shunzan Mori at Shunzan Kiln

KYO of this name means KYOTO and AKI means autumn in Japanese. This Yunomi features paintings of autumn wild flowers, a motif cherished by tea masters for generations. Considering the price and quality, this Yunomi is an outstanding value.

The unique shape is also one of the focal points of this Yunomi. The round and elliptical carvings are designed around the slim lower body. The shape of the slim lower body gradually becomes fuller, then gradually narrows again toward the upper rim, creating a soft and lovely atmosphere.

Though the color and brushwork are vivid, the whole atmosphere is amazingly soft and gentle, a beautiful effect characteristic of Shunzan’s expert artistry. This Yunomi is modestly sized, so that it fits your palm, and you can feel the soft and calm spring atmosphere in your hand. Although this Yunomi features a lovely autumn scene, it is certainly appropriate for use throughout the year, in any season.

Colorful patches of orange are called GOHONDE, a traditional technique that adds warmth to the atmosphere of the work. It is impossible to fully control the contrasting density of GOHONDE, so that GOHONDE is a little different in each work.

The flowers on this Yunomi symbolize autumn, and their gracefulness will enhance the taste of your green tea. Would you try this Yunomi which evokes the kind and warm spirit of nature?
