As soon as I opened my packet of sencha superior and breathed in the fresh, invigorating aroma of the bright green leaves, I knew that I would soon be enjoying the best sencha I'd ever had. And indeed that was case. This sencha has a wonderfully brisk flavor that is bold without being bitter. It puts to shame the other sencha varieties I had been buying here in the States. Hibiki-an clearly produces a superior product. The only problem is that once you graduate to their sencha, you won't be able to go back to dessicated, tasteless varieties that are peddled in many tea shops, at least here in the US. Bottom-line: When it comes to green tea, it's important to order directly from the source and from a company that oversees the entire production process. I haven't tried Hibiki-an's other sencha varieties, so I can't compare sencha superior to them. However, I can assure you that you will be delighted by the quality and mouthfeel of this tea. The subtle vegetal tones (a quality of all good sencha) of this particular variety are pleasingly pronounced. As an aside, I have been very impressed by Hibiki-an's customer service and the speed with which they dispatch orders. |
