For years I have drank loose leaf green tea from Japan. Mostly I used the Daiso tea bags for brewing, until recently I found out that a it's made from polypropylene plastic. I discontinued using the teabags and purchased a kyusu pot from Hibiki-an. I started with the a package of the premium sencha and I loved it, and then I purchased the sencha superior. Let me just say that the difference between the commercial, conventional green teas and the organic sencha superior is like night and day. Everything from the aroma to the mellow flavor is simply delightful. There is nothing I look more forward to the last few weeks than coming home from work and brewing some sencha superior in my kyusu pot. This morning I decided to drink a cup of one of my conventional, store-bought teas. It's a Japanese tea, one of the known brands you might see on the shelf of a local Japanese grocery store. For years I drank it and enjoyed it very much. Now, the taste is average -- dare I say even substandard. It was nothing special anymore. I used to enjoy drinking this tea, but now, after tasting the sweet and subtle flavor of sencha superior, I just cannot go back to conventional, store-bought teas. It simply does not compare. |
